Forest Resources Alumni Group Annual Meeting and Banquet 2014

          1:20 – 1:30   Welcome

          1:30 – 2:00   Al Traverse, curator of the Penn State Herbarium and professor emeritus of palynology and biology, will talk about the general history and purpose of herbaria, and about the Penn State Herbarium, which now includes the entire Forestry School herbarium that came to University Park from Mont Alto in 2010.

          2:00 – 2:30   Chuck Ray, associate professor of wood products operations, will introduce us to his work of cataloging multiple collections of wood samples (more than 2,000 species of wood) that have been stored at Penn State for more than a century.

3:30 – 5:30 p.m.

Blue-White Football Game. Free admission and free parking.  (Kickoff is 1:30 PM.  Stadium parking lots open at 8 AM.)

Lodging

Small blocks of guestrooms have been reserved at

Toftrees Resort and Conference Center, State College. Single-occupancy rate is $189 for Friday night. We also have a few rooms in the block for Saturday night (also $189). To reserve rooms in the block, please call Toftrees before March 11 at 1-800-252-3551 and mention "Forest Resources Alumni."

Sleep Inn, North Atherton Street, State College. Cost is $179 for Friday night for a room with two double beds or one queen-sized bed.  We also have a few rooms in the block for Saturday night (also $179).  To reserve rooms in this block, please call the Sleep Inn at 814-235-1020 before March 14 and mention "Forest Resources Alumni."
