Collaboration with faculty members from across the University is promoted and facilitated by the following institutes.

Our mission is to improve understanding and management of living systems, landscapes, and human-environment interactions with the objective of sustaining and enhancing ecosystem services and human-well being.

The Huck Institutes catalyzes and facilitates excellence in interdisciplinary research and education in the life sciences at Penn State. The Huck Institutes is dedicated to strengthening research in the life sciences, preparing students for successful careers, and encouraging new perspectives across disciplinary boundaries.

We are the central coordinating structure for energy and environmental research at Penn State. We bring together more than 500 extraordinary faculty, staff and students to advance the energy and environmental research missions of the University.

The Penn State Materials Research Institute (MRI) is an interdisciplinary organization for engaging strategic research at the cross-section of education, science, and innovation. Our activities span the physical, engineering, and life sciences, and draw upon the expertise of a diverse faculty in departments across the campus.

The mission of the Social Science Research Institute (SSRI) at The Pennsylvania State University is to promote research encompassing the wide range of skills and perspectives that are needed to solve complex social problems.
