Sunday, October 6 was a great day to be in the woods!

The third annual Walk in Penn's Woods featured 85 walks, including more than a dozen "walk and roll" wheelchair- and stroller-friendly sites, with nearly 1,000 participants on a rainy, chilly day.

Although the weather affected turnout in many areas, the Walk in Penn's Woods partnership is excited to report a 20% increase in the number of walks offered and overwhelming positive feedback.

"Despite getting a thorough soaking, folks were excited to be in the forest," walk leaders at the Clarence Schock Memorial Park in Lebanon County said. "This is a great initiative and we are thrilled to be a part of it!"

From Durham Township in Bucks County we heard, "Everyone in the group was so engaged; we ran over by an hour and no one cared!"

The Montour Preserve hosts in Montour County reported, "The kids were remarkably engaged as they picked up leaves, walnuts, acorns, and a caterpillar during the tour!"

The event continues to gain momentum and support, and we look forward to many more Pennsylvanians taking to the woods on Sunday, October 4, 2020.

A huge thank you to everyone who hosted and/or participated in a walk. We know our Pennsylvania forest landowners were well represented across the state!
