PA Tree Farm: Tree Farm Inspections, PA Couple Wins Regional Award

Greetings forest landowners and readers of Forest Leaves! I am proud to share that our inspectors have completed over 30 Tree Farm inspections this year, reaffirming our dedication to ensuring that every property in the Pennsylvania Tree Farm System is reviewed at least once every five years. These visits not only uphold the standards of the American Tree Farm System (ATFS) but also celebrate the incredible work of private landowners who embody the spirit of sustainable forestry and stewardship across the Commonwealth.

This year, we are especially proud to recognize George and Brenda Kirik, 2024 Pennsylvania Tree Farmers of the Year, as the 2025 ATFS Northeast Regional Tree Farmers of the Year. Their commitment to forest health, habitat diversity, and community education exemplifies the very best of what it means to be a Pennsylvania Tree Farmer. Their recognition is a reflection of the passion and hard work shared by so many within our program.

As we look to the future, I'm inspired by the strength of our network—members, inspectors, and volunteers alike—who ensure that Pennsylvania's forests remain healthy and productive for generations to come.
