This Pennsylvania Forest Seminar on Pests and Diseases
of Conifers in Pennsylvania will provide a brief overview of insect and disease
pests affecting conifer species in Pennsylvania with some recommendations for
management. Issues in focus will include
those that affect Eastern Hemlock (including hemlock woolly adelgid, elongate
hemlock scale, Sirococcus tip blight, Rosellinia needle blight, Fabrella needle
blight), Eastern white pine (including white pine needle disease complex,
Caliciopsis canker, pine bark adelgid, white pine weevil, pine shoot borer,
white pine blister rust, several root rots), and ornamentals like spruce and
fir (including balsam woolly adelgid, Rhizosphaera needle cast, Cytospora
canker, Swiss needle cast, and scale insects).
