Responsible for the more than 8,000 acres of forest owned by Penn State. These lands are used for teaching, research, recreation, and as a renewable resource for timber and other forest products.

Forum promotes collaboration to address impacts of wildfire in the Eastern US
Historically, wildfire research has focused on the western United States. However, changing climate conditions, increasing drought severity and dense development patterns are rapidly altering wildfire risk across the Eastern United States. Penn State hosted the Eastern Wildfire Forum in September to address the growing challenge of wildfire in the commonwealth and across the Eastern United States.

Fish dads offer new insight into behavioral effects of receiving paternal care
The plot of "Finding Nemo," a film that features an overprotective single father fish taking on dangers at sea to care for his son, may be more reflective of actual fish dad behavior than was previously known. A new study led by a Penn State scientist found that baby freshwater fish, when raised by dutiful fathers, fare far better than their non-dad-raised peers in life-or-death situations.
