Gilson Sieve shaker

Utilizes 8-inch sieves. Can use for particle analysis by dry sieving (ASTM D6913) or use several sets of bottom pan/#10 sieves/ top cover/  to  increase  productivity of conventional sieving that separates <2 mm particles.

SRCL has two microbalances (6 digit) and two analytical balances (5 digit), all annually inspected and calibrated.

UV-VIS spectophotometer

The DU Series 700 Spectrophotometer is a general purpose complete scanning UV/Visible spectrophotometer with a bandwidth of 3 nm and a wavelength range of 190 to 1100 nm. The system comes with a Standard Single Cell Holder for a 1-cm rectangular cuvette. A test tube holder is fixed in the sample compartment. You can use the DU Series 700 for testing samples in the visible and ultraviolet wavelength spectrum. A halogen gas-filled tungsten lamp produces light in the visible spectrum (320 to 1100 nm), and a deuterium lamp produces light in the ultraviolet spectrum (190 to 360 nm).

Fluostar microplate

FLUOstar is an ideal plate reader for many life science applications. It offers a programable 96 well plate reader that measures absorbance, fluorescence intensity and  time-resolved fluorescence. It has two injector ports in which chemicals can be added and their effects can be subsequently measured. Incubation temperature can be controlled between 25 and 45°C. It can be programed to shake samples. You may customize it with your UV/vis filters of choice, or you may use our filters that were selected for a wide array of applications (The filters currently available are 258, 340, 405, 420, 450, 460, 485, 540, 562,580,590, 620,630,650, 712 nm)

It is perfect for measuring various metabolites (sugars, ammonium, nitrate, IAA, antioxidants etc.), enzymes (phenol oxidase, peroxidase etc.), proteins, antibodies, hormones (BCA assay, ELISA etc.). It is highly useful for soil microbiology as it can read Biolog ECOplates that are routinely used to characterize carbon utilization of microbial communities. It has also been used for filamentous fungi and nematode counting.
