Forest Resources & Ecosystem Science and Management Alumni Group - Outstanding Recent Alumni Award
Purpose: To recognize outstanding School of Forest Resources and successor Department of Ecosystem Science and Management alumni, and to foster closer relationships between the award recipients and students, faculty, staff, and other alumni.
Eligibility: All alumni of the School of Forest Resources and successor Department of Ecosystem Science and Management who have graduated with the previous 10 years are eligible. This includes graduates of all associate, baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral programs. Also eligible are graduates of Intercollege Graduate Degree Programs (IGDPs) who were advised by a faculty member in the School of Forest Resources or successor Department of Ecosystem Science and Management. Awards may be made posthumously.
Frequency of Award: Zero or one award will be made at the annual meeting of the Forest Resources Alumni Group.
Nomination Process: Any School of Forest Resources and successor Department of Ecosystem Science and Management faculty, staff, or alumni may make a nomination. Self-nominations are not permitted. Nominations will be accepted yearly from 1 October to 30 September of the following year, with the selection of recipients completed by 30 November. The president of the Forest Resources Alumni Group will appoint an ad hoc selection committee. This committee will be composed of at least three members of the Forest Resources Alumni Group Board of Directors and the head of the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management, ex officio.
Nominations should include the name, address, and year of graduation and major of the nominee. Additionally, the nomination should include a thorough description of the nominee that specifically addresses these Selection Criteria:
- Professional achievement, significant career advancement, excellence, impact, and recognition
- Service to the profession, to Penn State's School of Forest Resources or Department of Ecosystem Science and Management, and to the community
- Demonstration of high personal and professional standards
Nominations that are clearly organized to address the three criteria separately are highly encouraged. The nomination may also include a list of persons (along with contact information) who may act as references.
