Held every two years, our Forest Landowners Conference focuses on the conservation and management of healthy forests with the intent of bringing together people who want to demonstrate a commitment to forest sustainability.
2025 Forest Landowners Conference
The Finley Center and our partners are pleased to announce the next Forest Landowners Conference will be held March 7-8, 2025, at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center in State College, PA. This year, our event is offered adjacent to the Pennsylvania Forest Health, Insect, and Disease Briefing on March 6.

2023 Forest Landowners Conference
The 2023 Forest Landowners Conference was held March 24-25, 2023, at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center in State College, PA
Included here are the titles and descriptions for the presentations to date that will be offered during the nine learning sessions (four on Friday, five on Saturday). We have grouped them by day; session assignments, times, and locations will be coming soon. Additional presentations will be added as they are received.
2019 Forest Landowners Conference
The 4th Biennial Forest Landowners Conference, Working Your Woods for Today and Tomorrow was held on March 22-23, 2019, at the Penn Stater Conference Center and Hotel. Over 600 landowners and professionals gathered together for two days of networking and learning how to care for Pennsylvania's Woods.
During the course of the conference, participants had the opportunity to learn about key topics from forestry professionals and practitioners during nine small-group learning sessions. Attendees were able to choose from nearly 100 presentations—covering topics including forest legacy planning, invasive plants, forest health, tax tips, water and woods, wildlife, woodland conservation, and more—to expand their knowledge of woodland stewardship.
2017 Forest Landowners Conference
The 3rd Biennial Forest Landowners Conference, Enriching Woodland Values, was held on March 24-25, 2017. There were over 600 attendees who left with the resources and knowledge of how to better care for their woods.
With nine concurrent sessions and 9 to 11 different presentations being offered during each session, we hosted over 75 presenters from various organizations and experiences and shared a lot of information.
2015 Private Forest Landowners Conference
On March 20 & 21, 2015, the Center hosted the 2nd Private Forest Landowner Conference: The Future of Penn’s Woods. It was a huge success. We had over 440 participants and 45 exhibitors. This response demonstrates that people care about Pennsylvania’s forests.
We were able to offer 11 different topic tracks, 78 presenters who taught 99 presentations. The Tracks offered were: Aesthetics and Biodiversity, Backyard Woods, Forest Finance, Forest Health, Forest Legacy, Forest Recreation, Forests and Water, Landowner Resource Panels, Tending and Management, Wood Products, Woods Wildlife and Your Woods Toolbox.
2013 Private Forest Landowners Conference
On May 10 and 11, 2013 at the Blair County Convention Center in Altoona, nearly 500 of Pennsylvania’s forest landowners, resource professionals and service providers converged to share a learning experience unprecedented in the state.
The program guide enables participants to see what activities and seminars were available at the conference. The guide includes a letter from the Director of The Center for Private Forests at Penn State, Jim Finley, information about our Keynote Speakers, presentation descriptions and their speakers, and the Conference Committee.
