The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has added eight counties to the spotted lanternfly quarantine list ahead of the spring hatch, bringing the total number of counties under quarantine to 34. Cambria, Cameron, Franklin, Lackawanna, Montour, Pike, Wayne, and Westmoreland are new to the quarantine for 2021.
Everyone traveling in/living in a county under quarantine should be sure to check all vehicles, trailers, campers, and other equipment thoroughly, including around front and rear windshield wipers, grills, roof racks, wheel wells, and truck beds before traveling out of or within a quarantine zone. Items intended to be moved, whether within or outside the quarantine, must also be inspected. Any and all items should be inspected, including but not limited to plant material, woody debris, firewood, lawn furniture, construction supplies, tools, and other equipment.
