Penn State Extension’s popular The Woods in Your Backyard webinar series will meet 7-8:30 PM weekly via Zoom on Wednesdays starting January 11, 2023.
The majority of forest landowners in the Northeastern US own properties smaller than 20 acres. Photo by Penn State.
The vast majority of landowners have small woodlots less than 10 acres in size. This nine-session series is designed specifically, but not exclusively, for smaller landscapes. Learn how landowners can positively influence the environment by implementing simple stewardship practices.
The Woods in Your Backyard is for landowners, land managers, conservation organizations, and anyone who desires to learn more about caring for a woodlot. Topics covered include:
- Why Manage Forests?
- Forest Ecology
- Creating and Managing Wildlife Habitat
- Identifying and Controlling Invasive Plants
- Forest Health Issues and Management
- Forests and Water
- Selecting Native Trees for Various Sites
- Establishing Meadows and Forests
- Creating Plans for Your Property
Cost is $50 per person; each participant will receive a full-color, 108-page copy of The Woods in Your Backyard manual. For more information and to register, visit The Woods in your Backyard.
