The Pennsylvania Tree Farm Committee (PATFC) meeting was held on December 13 in State College. Gay and Harold Thistle are the incoming Co-chairs for the PATFC. Area 4 Chair Tom Fitzgerald was recognized for ten years of dedicated service to PATF. Bob and Jane Slagter received their recognition plaque and display sign honoring their selection as the Pennsylvania 2018 Outstanding Tree Farmer of Year. Be sure to reserve May 4, 2019, for the site visit and tour of their Tree Farm in northwestern Pennsylvania!

PATFC is continuing to complete the targeted re-inspections for 2018. Your commitment to this challenging and successful work keeps Tree Farm moving successfully into 2019. Reminder: Re-inspections are required every five years to maintain certification.

In November, PATFC members Maureen and John Burnham were invited guests and speakers at the 2018 Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Annual Meeting held at the beautiful Hershey Lodge in Hershey, PA.

Each year the State Women's Leadership Committee selects a Farmtastic Book of the Year. This year, The Tree Farmer, written by Chuck Leavell (keyboard player for the Rolling Stones and a Tree Farmer) and Nicholas Cravotta, was highlighted.
The Pennsylvania Tree Farm message was delivered to a crowd of 200-plus. What a great opportunity to share the day with fellow Pennsylvania farmers. Various printed brochures and handouts from Tree Farm and Pennsylvania Forestry Association were available. After our presentation and discussion, a basket of Pennsylvania Tree Farm items was given to a lucky person!
